Front Load Washing Machines -
Reviews
Front load washing machines are considered
to be the best performing and most energy-efficient washing machines. Their horizontal tubs tumble the clothes, and some models even have a wash
plate or impeller that somersaults the clothes in and out of the water. Front
load washing machines are known to
be more gentle on clothes and cause less tangling than top-loading laundry
machines.
The bad news, however, is that high-efficiency
front load washing machines
cost more than ordinary top-loaders, and they also get complaints for low
reliability. However, reliability has been improving for front-loaders over
the last years.
Although there are a lot of
front load washing machines in the market, I'm
going to focus on three high quality brands/models;
Amana NFW7200TW
As already mentioned, front-loading washing machines
are cleaning the clothes better, are more energy-efficient and use less water
than traditional top-loading machines. The problem is that their reliability
is often iffy. The 3.5-cubic-foot Amana NFW7200TW is one of the less expensive
front loaders in the market, yet its scores for efficiency and it's cleaning
ability are as good as some laundry machines that cost twice as much. The
Amana NFW7200TW washer receives excellent owner testimonies, with only a few
complaints mostly regarding noise and vibration.
This Amana model includes a Microban-treated seal to
inhibit bacteria and mold growth. A common problem in front-loading washers is
mold growth and bad odor. I have yet to see a single complaint of this kind
for this Amana model.

Samsung WF448AAW
As a matter of fact, most high-end front load laundry
machines don't perform much better than relatively cheap models. This is not
the case with Samsung WF448AAW; this model receives excellent scores in two
professional tests. User reviews are also very positive for this washer, and
there are far fewer complaints about odor and mold for Samsung laundry
machines than for most other brands. According to experts, this is made
possible with the SilverCare technology, which remove odor-causing bacteria by
releasing silver ions into the water.
This Samsung washer contains an extra-large
4.5-cubic-foot capacity; according to the manufacturer it has enough space to
wash 28 towels in one load. It also include Samsung's proprietary vibration
reduction technology and a steam-wash feature. One drawback is that the normal
wash cycle takes about 90 minutes to complete.
